Yarrow and Carrie Cheney's exceptional talent and spiritual journey led them to this beautiful film.

You will find this film endearing to both children and adults alike, and the words in their poetic format written by Carrie Buell Cheney and spoken by Andy Griffith will set the Christmas story in the minds of your family in a very special way.

The Very First Noel

Yarrow and I met in art school in 1992 while studying Character Animation. Very early on we hatched a plan to one day create an animated Christmas special like those we’d watched on TV every Christmas as kids – “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”, “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, etc.

A few years into our careers in the spring of 1999, we sat down to brainstorm on what our Christmas project might be. Only three minutes into the conversation the words THE THREE WISE MEN flashed across my mind. I can only describe it as a God moment – the thought wasn’t mine. Yarrow grabbed his Bible and we began reading the Christmas story in Matthew and Luke. It would take 7 1/2 years from that moment to see the idea through.

God worked in our lives in so many ways through the ups, downs, setbacks and finally completion of the show (which was renamed in year 6 from “The Three Wise Men” to “The Very First Noel”). He used the project to grow our faith and change our lives. We hope you enjoy the show.

Merry Christmas!
