Portrait of a Radical is a beautifully poetic yet challenging way of looking at the life, ministry and person of Jesus. It weaves enchanting music and classical portraits of Jesus and other religious art, and nature shots, through an inspiring thought and experience provoking discussion of Jesus by 3 authors and theologians--Huston Smith, Richard Rohr and Allen Dwight Callahan. This discussion is not based in religiosity, but in a deeper look at the real Jesus who did not fit into the established traditional hierarchy of the time, but brought us to a new level of being human and seeking the God among us in those who have been marginalized by society. It is a look at a Jesus who is a man of the people, of compassion and one through which Truth flowed easily and deeply, and whose perfection of our humanity brought us into an encounter with the divine.

I have used this film in Christology classes to stir a deeper experience of Christ and it is also a film that brings me peace personally, and a deeper connectedness with a world that experiences Jesus on a deeper level. ~Caryn
